The President and the Democrats may be in a no win situation with the coming votes on an eventual healthcare bill. The President and leading Democrats are now whipping up the moderate Democrats with the argument that they have to pass something or the Democrats will suffer severe reversals at the polls next year (and may even lose the House). Therefore, the latest argument being pushed has nothing to do with what is best for our country, but instead, has everything to do with what is best for the Democrats. But is this argument even true. When the Democrats pushed through Social Security (with the help of Republicans), the Democrats lost around 30 seats anyway in the next election. So even when the Republicans join in, the Democrats received the bulk of the blame and lost seats for it. Part of it is the natural tendency to gravitate toward the party out of power.
But something very different is taking place right now. There is a palpable anger in the air. It is present in almost every part of the country. It is so loud that the Democrats do not believe that it is real. They call it all orchestrated, fake, not real. There was a hugh march on Washington D.C. on September 12th and the mainstream media fell all over themselves to downplay the size. There were reports that the numbers were in the thousands, the tens of thousands and almost 2 million. We seem to me in an era where a news organization cannot even be honest about the number of people who attended a rally. What does this say about us as a country? That is another story.
I wise man once said, “Don’t tell me what you are going to do in the future, tell me what you have done in the past and I will tell you what you are going to do in the future.”
The Democrats may be in a no win situation. Even they do not believe that the economy can turn around in just over a year. But they are hoping. They may be betting the farm.
The anger among the public is incredible. It may be unprecedented.
No Win Situation?
